On Monday, we finished our big renovation project in a 12-hour work day which included grouting the shower surround (work, but easy) and changing out Griffin’s bathroom faucet (easy, but turned into a big 2-hour ordeal when a pipe broke off in the wall. It’s all done and we both used the shower today. It [...]

Continuing work on the bathroom, we got the main tile and trim tile in place. Once this all dries, we can then add the trim work between the tub and the surround and the soap holder, shelves and towel rack and finally grout. The end of the project is in sight.

After a week-long break to lead a Vacation Bible School we got back into the bathroom today to put up 30 square feet of tile. That’s the whole back wall and just under half of the tile needed for the shower surround. It was also a good start back to work after a break. The [...]

On Tuesday night, we cut off the water to the house to install the new water pipes for the bath and shower. The whole 15-joint sculpture we created held water everywhere except in the last joint, where a pinhole leak sprayed water. By then it was midnight and everything had to wait until 7 [...]
Sweating the Pipes

Sweating copper pipes is the term for soldering them together and we have been soldering away on rebuilding the piping behind the wall in the bath/shower so that we can attach the new fixtures we bought.

Picking out a new toilet
Victoria removes the carpet tack strips in the bedroom, which comes next.
First coat of paint in the bathroom.

Nothing says renovation like…

…having your toilet and bathtub out on the curb. We are remodeling our “master” bedroom and bath by redoing the floors, repainting and/or tiling the walls as appropriate and replacing the tub, toilet, sinks and fixtures. Other than that, we aren’t doing much.
