We took this photo 22 years ago this March in a first grade classroom in a little village in Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley. No roads led to the school. To get to the village and its school, one must walk. There was no teacher, but the kids were all in their rooms with their books out. They did the English alphabet for us to show off. We sat on the hillside and spoke with another teacher who was there, but not teaching his own group of students.
The children are now 27-28 years old. Nepal has changed. The King and Queen have been killed years ago by their own son. The Maoist continue to try an overthrow their country’s form of government. What happened to these children, now adults?

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long.
Glad you sent me that link again – I had forgotten and meant to blogrool it, so now I can.
